Two Days In York

Over the weekend we spent two days in York celebrating Ben’s birthday. We’ve visited York numerous times and it’s always a pleasure, this time even more so because of the beautiful weather. The city centre is only a short walk from the train station and our first stop was York Minster. We lay on the grass in the park and shared cupcakes and lemonade from Crumbs on the road.

I love shopping in York. Mostly because they have a Whistles and Oliver Bonas store but also because of the Shambles. The street is lined with over-hanging timber framed fronts and holds so much history. Today it’s a tourist attraction featuring shops, cafes and restaurants.

Since Roman times York was defended by the city walls. To this day they still remain and have been restored and maintained for public access.  To walk the full wall it would take around 2 hours so we just walked up a little way for the view and to take some snaps.

We visited Jamie Oliver’s Italian for dinner on the Sunday night which we both always enjoy and there is a great range of other restaurants to visit in the city centre too. Our favourite cocktail bar in York is Evil Eye Lounge, the cocktail list is huge and they taste sooo good. Before heading for the train home on Monday we went back to Crumbs again for more cupcakes and lay in the park.
