I wanted to share some of my favourite snaps from our recent holiday to Cyprus and tell you a little bit about the place. We stayed in Protaras for 10 nights in a beautiful villa at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. When looking for a villa I found it impossible to find anything with a private pool just for the two of us. We ended up booking a three bedroom villa through Owners Direct which turned out to be really affordable. I’ve always preferred the freedom of a self catering holiday with more space and privacy so this was perfect for me. We also hired a car which happened to be a lime green, Chevrolet Spark which made us both laugh pretty much every day. So it was just me, Ben, our villa and lil green spark to help us explore the island. Absolute bliss!
We spent a lot of time by the pool, dipping in and out, nodding off on the sun loungers, playing ping pong and enjoying each others company. There was plenty of supermarkets near by and the trips were even easier with having the car. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I love wandering around supermarkets in other countries to see what’s on offer. We pretty much lived off pitta, halloumi, homous, feta, salad, eggs and wine during the day.
Konnos Bay was our favourite beach and only a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk from the villa. The water was so clear which made it perfect for gopro pics and it wasn’t overly busy like some other beaches. We went to Konnos Bay for a second time to hire a boat which was probably my favourite day of the holiday. We were able to see all along the coast of Protaras and stopped off at Blue Lagoon for a dip.
We drove into Ayia Napa one day to visit Nissi Beach and we went for a quick wander around the Monastery in the centre which was worth a visit if you like a bit of history. There are some beautiful churches to visit too which were all so picturesque.
Some evenings we stayed at the villa devouring share bags of paprika crisps and swimming in the pool till the sun set and other nights we went out for food and drinks. Most evenings were spent in Protaras where we ate at some beautiful restaurants and drank plenty of red wine. Our favourite restaurant was called Lemongrass which was an asian fusion restaurant. We also visited a taverna to enjoy a traditional Cypriot mezze which was yummy. I think we have probably eaten enough homous and feta salads for the year now!
Cyprus has left me feeling refreshed and relaxed. I’ve come back home ready to tackle my final year at university and get back to my job. Although… I could quite easily of spent another week there and I’m dreaming of our next adventure already!
