Edinburgh’s Christmas

I am well and truly in the festive spirit after a trip up to Edinburgh this week. The amount of effort put in to make the city look festive is amazing and I’m sure the big fella will agree when he’s delivering all the presents next week!

One of my best friends Fay and her boyfriend Mathew had booked a lodge for the week in Perthshire so they invited us up to stay for a night with them and we decided to meet in Edinburgh. We wandered around the Christmas markets for a few hours before heading to The Dome where Fay had booked us a table for afternoon tea. The Dome is one of the most beautiful buildings at Christmas time and they definitely win the award for best Christmas tree.

Later on in the evening we headed up to the Royal Mile to see the street of light event. Music from the Edinburgh Festival Chorus, the Edinburgh Gay Men’s Chorus, the Edinburgh Police Choir and the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union played in sync with the lights. Y’know that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you feel extremely festive and are with great people? That was me the whole of Tuesday.

To top the night off we drove back to the lodge to enjoy a spread of cheese from the market with bread, chutney and all that good stuff before chilling in the hot tub with a bottle of fizz (or 2).

Thanks again to Fay and Mathew for inviting us.

I filmed some footage on my GoPro too if you’d like to follow us around and see the festivities in Edinburgh. One of my new years resolutions will definitely be to teach myself how to film and be better at editing. I’m enjoying attaching a video to some posts to give them more depth. Let me know what you think.
